10 April 2008

Knees to be sorted *definitely* within the next 12 weeks. I'm allowed to wear my heels 1/2 months afterwards & horse ride again 3 months (I'm aiming for 2) afterwards. As you can see, I asked all the important questions first. Lol

Went to the hospital yesterday & aw a lovely Spanish nurse who was brilliant & quite funny because after seeing my (lack of) veins said "Fuck" about 4 times in Spanish. She didn't realise my sister is fluent in the language... Lol
I don't care because she managed to get 3 fat vials of blood without so much as a bruise.

Soooo, if it all goes to plan I'll be back on horses by September. Not a moment too soon, I'm telling you.

Can't Wait!

The image “http://www.katerusby.com/dbimages/KateRusby07-052_s.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

I'm going to see Kate Rusby in September. I've blogged about her before & she is absolutely brilliant.

I'm actually going away to see a friend in Brighton for a few days who is also a fellow fan. As it's my birthday in September then that is my present from him & I cannot wait.

She's a brilliant artist, one of the very few that sound better live than they do recorded & if you want music to switch off to, then hers is it.

I'm not majorly into Folk but there are an awful lot of Folk Festivals go on around here. All sorts of cultural events take place in Cheltenham & the Cotswolds throughout the year. If you go upto any of the Cotswold villages while these festivals are being held then the musicians will leave the festival & go onto the local pub to carry through the evening & the early hours of the morning sometimes.

It's one of the things I most enjoy, to go up to a small, rural village & spend the day in the atmosphere, having a drink & enjoying the sun. It's great & I recommend it if you're ever in this area.

I'm really hoping the weather is fine because it should be a great few days away with a really special friend. Much needed days away at the moment, need something to look ahead for :o)

Kate Rusby - Fare Thee Well Live ft The 1st Battalion of Scots Guards.

And if you recognise her voice but can't quite put your finger on why, it will be because of this, the theme tune to Jam & Jerusalem. The only song I think I've ever heard that sounds better than the original.

Handbags & Gladrags

"A woman's mind is as complex as the contents of her handbag; even when you get to the bottom of it, there is always something at the bottom to surprise you!" ~ Bill Connelly

So true!

I decided today it was high time I actually sorted out the contents of my bag (Excitement or what....) It literally was like Mary Poppins carpet bag. Looks like it hasn't got that much in it but dig deeper & it's like opening a wardrobe door & waiting for the avalanche!

I cannot be doing with tiny bags nor ones that cost the earth. Just isn't me I guess. So mine has three compartments which is great as it is not huge (big bags tend to wear me rather than the other way around), muted silver & is about 3 years old, so it's a little bit battered & loved.

The contents that revealed themselves when I emptied it were as follows;

Mobile phone.
Small camera.
Battered notebook with a couple of photos taped inside.
mp4 player.
Small sketch book & 3 pencils.
A book I'm currently reading.
Small makeup bag.
4 hairbands.
Small hairbrush.
3 mini vials of perfume.
2 pairs of gloves, one ordinary pair, one for riding.
Small umbrella.
a pair of forgotten spur straps.
2 bracelets.
A couple of ancient bus tickets.
3 necklaces.
Breath freshener.
A broken cheek piece from my horse's show bridle.
A beanie hat.
& a Partridge in a pear tree!
(There might just as well have been for everything else that came tumbling out.)

I didn't realise I was carrying so much around :-o
I suppose it is true when people say that a handbag is an extension of the owner. Mine contains all things, or hints at all things that are important to me & my life.

Still, it now contains the essential rubbish rather than the built-up-over-time-rubbish!

And now for the glad rags.

A mini-dress that I bought a month or so ago but didn't blog about for £5.00 instead of £90.00 in the sales & a gorgeous jacket from the same place for £20.00 instead of £85.00 (kids sizes, bargain! Lol)

Mini-Dress - French Connection.

Coat (front) - French Connection.

Coat (back) - French Connection. Rubbish pics but enough for you to get an idea. The coat is gorgeous as is the dress, just need an excuse to wear the dress now! Lol
